Apprentice Welder/Fabricator
WIG Engineering Ltd is a respected steel fabrication and welding specialist, providing high‑quality structural, architectural and bespoke steelwork. We are now looking for a motivated Apprentice Welder/Fabricator to join our team and begin a recognised engineering career through a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship.
About the Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship provides full hands‑on training in a skilled fabrication environment, working with structural steelwork, welding processes, and on‑site installation support.
You will work alongside experienced fabricators and welders, developing real engineering skills while completing your formal training.
What You Will Learn
Under the guidance of our team and your instructors, you will develop skills in:
- Fabricating structural steel components including beams, frames, staircases and architectural steelwork
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, including CAD‑generated designs
- Welding processes including MIG, and general fabrication practices (cutting, shaping, marking out, assembly)
- Safe operation of workshop equipment such as saws, drills, jigs and fixtures, presses, and cutting tools
- On‑site installation support where required
- Understanding safety, environmental and quality control standards within engineering and fabrication
You will work towards achieving the Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Standard, including the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Fabrication & Welding and the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, awarded on successful completion.
